Thanks to u/setsunafseiei88 and u/Dexxtrip for the heads up. This method made it easier for me to troubleshoot, as one can see what's being changed in the files' pattern, as trying to blindly test with the automated tools is very time consuming.

What I did was merging the mods from gamebanana manually into umd0.cpk using Cri Packed File Maker v2.40. I haven't tested loading external mod.cpk or /bind folder, but this should be setup to work with that too. In theory you should be able to use this to load even more mods from gamebanana.
